Read the sermon text: 2 Timothy 2:1-13
Read the sermon summary: In our passage for this Sunday, Paul continues to encourage Timothy to faithfully endure suffering for the sake of the gospel. Paul uses a few images to drive home the need of discipline, perseverance, and dedication in the Christian life. As an encouragement to endurance, he reminds Timothy of Jesus Christ, especially of his resurrection and relationship to David. In preparation for the sermon consider the following questions: Why do you think Paul specifically mentions the resurrection of Jesus and his relationship to David? What impact do you think Paul wanted to have on Timothy by quoting the saying in verses 11-13?
