Read the sermon text: Romans 1:14-17
Read the sermon summary: Would characterize yourself as eager to share the gospel with others? In our passage for this Sunday, Paul says he is “eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.” Note, it appears he was eager to preach the gospel to both Christians and non-Christians. In this passage we see that Paul’s eagerness for this task was rooted in what he believed about the gospel, namely, that it is the power of God for salvation, and that in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. In preparation for the sermon consider the following questions: What relationship does Paul’s “obligation” (v. 14) have to his eagerness to preach the gospel? What, in this context, does it mean to be “ashamed of the gospel?” To what is Paul referring when he mentions “the righteousness of God?"
