Read the sermon text: Exodus 24, 32-34
Read the sermon summary: This Sunday we will finish our sermon series through the book of Exodus. You may be wondering, “What about all the other stuff that we’re not covering in detail?” Our goal in this series has been to faithfully preach the text, especially to convey the intent of the author. In theological works like the Pentateuch, it’s necessary to zoom out a bit to see what the author is seeking to accomplish. We have repeatedly seen his emphasis on the growing divide between God and his people, and how he is going to bridge the gap… through a mediator, the One who makes rules and commands the obedience of the peoples. Though Moses has been this sort of leader, we see in the rest of the book of Exodus that he has been a shadow of the One who is to come.
Read the following song lyrics in relation to the sermon:
Promises
God of Abraham You're the God of covenant
Of faithful promises
Time and time again You have proven
You do just what You say
Though the storms may come
And the winds may blow
I'll remain steadfast
And let my heart learn when You speak a word
It will come to pass
Chorus
Great is Your faithfulness to me
Great is Your faithfulness to me
From the rising sun to the setting same
I will praise Your name
Great is Your faithfulness to me
God from age to age
Though the earth may pass away
Your word remains the same yeah
Your history can prove
There's nothing You can't do
You're faithful and true
I put my faith in Jesus
My anchor to the ground
My hope and firm foundation
He'll never let me down
