Read the sermon text: Hebrews 4:1-13
Read the sermon summary: Have you entered into the God’s rest? In our passage for this Sunday, the author warns his readers to “fear” lest it seem that any of them have failed to enter into that rest. He wants them to reject following their fathers who did not enter God’s rest because of their disobedience and unbelief. A key question we need to answer is, “What is this rest the author is referring to?” Is it a literal Sabbath day or the principle of resting physically from our work once a week? Does it mean to become passive and simply wait until Jesus returns? In our time together we will explore what it means to “cease” from our works like God did his.
