Read the sermon text: Hebrews 1:1-14
Read the sermon summary: “I have spoken.” Throughout history, these words have been used to highlight the gravity of the words spoken or authoritatively end a debate. As we begin our series through the book of Hebrews, within just the first few verses, we can say “God has spoken.” We see that not only has God mercifully spoken to his people throughout history, but he has also spoken to us definitively by his Son. We quickly see that this Son is no ordinary human son. The author of Hebrews highlights the supremacy of the Son. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He is the “radiance of God’s glory,” “the exact representation of his being.” This introduction sets the stage for one of the central themes of the whole book: the supremacy of Christ in all things.
