Read the sermon text: Hebrews 9:15-28
Read the sermon summary: What are your spiritual accomplishments? What’s on your moral resume? A resume, of course, showcases your work skills, education, accomplishments, and qualifications for a particular job. We could ask ourselves, what qualifies me to be forgiven of my sins and saved? In our passage for this Sunday, we see that what is important before God is not our spiritual resume or accomplishments, but those of Jesus Christ, our Mediator. The author emphasizes the once and for all sacrifice of Jesus by which we who are called receive the eternal inheritance: the forgiveness of sins, intimacy with the Father, and the promise that Jesus will return and save us forever.
