Read the sermon text: Romans 12:1-2
Read the sermon summary: Paul has dedicated eleven chapters to theological truths, including justification by faith, the promises of God to both Jews and Gentiles, and much more related to the good news of the gospel. He has applied these truths to his readers, but in chapter twelve, he begins to detail what on-the-ground obedience looks like for Christians. In the first two verses of chapter twelve, Paul sets forth a paradigm for Christian obedience: Because of God’s mercy to us in Christ, we should offer our whole selves in service to God and be transformed so that we increasingly know and do God’s will.
Read the following song lyrics in relation to the sermon:
Jesus Paid It All
I hear the Savior say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness watch and pray
Find in Me thine all in all
Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Lord now indeed I find
Thy pow'r and Thine alone
Can change the leper's spots
And melt the heart of stone
And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
My lips shall still repeat
Oh praise the One Who paid my debt
And raised this life up from the dead
(Jesus)
