Read the sermon text: Romans 12:3-8

Read the sermon summary: In our last sermon in the book of Romans we considered what it means to present ourselves as sacrifices to God. We are assured that our service to God is pleasing because of the one atoning sacrifice of Jesus. In our passage for this Sunday, Paul begins to talk about the nuts and bolts of offering ourselves to God in obedience. He shows us that our obedience to God isn’t simply or primarily our inward piety, but concrete acts of service to people around us. In preparation for the sermon consider the following questions: What gift(s) do you think that you have? How are you serving the body with them? What attitudes and emotions do you experience while serving in these ways?
